Orthopaedic Care Specialist

Job Purpose:
As a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Orthopaedic Care at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust, you will be responsible for assessing care needs and developing programmes of care for patients. You will implement and evaluate these programmes, ensuring high standards of care within the department.
Clinical Responsibilities:
You will practice according to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct, assessing care needs for patients and planning, implementing, and evaluating care for individual patients. You will ensure nursing care is delivered using an individualised approach, providing a high standard of care to all patients.
You will participate in the admission and discharge planning process in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team, acting as a named nurse for patients. You will maintain good communication with all healthcare staff, ensuring prescribed treatment is carried out, and ensure the safe custody and administration of medicines.
Education Responsibilities:
You will assist with the orientation programme for new staff and nursing observers, developing your own professional and personal development through research, innovation, and attendance at suitable study days. You will participate in research projects as appropriate, seeking to develop nursing practice, and participate and teach as appropriate in the department's in-service education programme.
You will be an active member of the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring good communication with other departments, and assist in the utilisation of staffing resources to provide the most effective cover for the ward.
