Overview:

Bishop Burton College seeks a dedicated and experienced Equine Studies Academic to join its Animal Science department.

The successful candidate will contribute to innovative teaching, ensuring students gain a first-class education and industry-ready skills. They will design and deliver high-quality teaching and learning experiences, provide expert guidance and support to students, assess student progress, and manage educational visits. Additionally, they will play a key role in college marketing activities and help develop the equine curriculum to meet industry demands.

Responsibilities:

  • Teaching and Learning: Design and deliver engaging teaching and learning experiences for students, incorporating innovative methods and technologies to enhance student outcomes.
  • Student Support: Provide expert guidance and support to students to ensure their academic success, including mentoring, coaching, and counseling as needed.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Assess student progress and develop strategies to improve outcomes, using a range of assessment methods to evaluate student learning.
  • Curriculum Development: Contribute to the development and refinement of the equine curriculum to meet industry needs, ensuring it remains relevant and up-to-date.
  • Marketing and Promotion: Play a key role in college marketing activities to promote the equine program, including social media, advertising, and other promotional efforts.

Requirements:

  • A relevant degree or equivalent qualification in Equine Studies, preferably a BHS Stage 3 Coach in Complete Horsemanship/BHSA1.
  • A minimum of one year's teaching or training experience, ideally with a teaching qualification (or willingness to obtain one).
  • A passion for working with young people and the ability to address challenging behaviors.
