Third in Charge Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic professional to join our team at a nursery in the Chertsey area. This role is integral to supporting the nursery management and enhancing the quality of care and education that they provide.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Quality Education: Focus on enhancing the quality of education, ensuring the Early Years Foundation Stage delivery meets individual needs.
  • Operational Management: Open and close the nursery in the manager/deputy's absence, plan the daily schedule, and oversee the smooth running of the nursery.
  • Training and Development: Train and develop room leaders, occasionally stepping into their roles.
  • External Collaboration: Liaise with schools and outside agencies to support children's readiness for school and enhance nursery practices.
  • Parental Engagement: Develop strong partnerships and effective communication with parents and carers.
  • Teamwork and Leadership: Supervise, direct, support, and motivate staff across the nursery.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Conduct show rounds and handle responsibilities such as SENCO, training coordination, and safeguarding.
Requirements:
  • A relevant and recognised childcare qualification at level 3 or above.
  • Experience of supervising a team in a nursery setting.
  • Experience of working in partnership with parents.
  • A recent Paediatric First Aid certificate.
  • Able to demonstrate ongoing personal development training.
  • Experience of implementing the EYFS.
