Manufacturing Engineer

Murray Myers Limited is seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join their team. As a key member of the production team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective manufacture of components and assemblies.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing processes, including machining, mechanical assembly, welding, and electronic/electrical assembly. They will be able to provide technical knowledge and instruction from the design stage to the completion of manufacture, and will be responsible for seeking and facilitating improvements to processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide manufacturing technical knowledge and instruction from the design stage to the completion of manufacture.
  2. Seek and facilitate improvements to processes, including investment and creating business cases.
  3. Generate manufacturing documentation, including manufacturing inspection and test plans (MITP) and route cards.
  4. Review designs to ensure they are producible effectively and reliably.
  5. Identify waste and non-value adding activities, and seek changes to eliminate or minimize them.
  6. Undertake make/buy assessments based on cost, in-house capability, resource availability, schedule requirements, and quality requirements.
  7. Support the tendering process, including the development of manufacturing strategies.
  8. Raise NCRs and contribute to closing out NCRs using analytical methods.

Requirements:

  1. At least 5 years industrial experience in a manufacturing role, with knowledge of machining and/or welding in a lean environment.
  2. Graduate calibre.
  3. In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, including at least two of machining, mechanical assembly, welding, and electronic/electrical assembly.
  4. Knowledge of inspection processes and how designs affect accuracy, time scale, and expected results.
  5. Ability to communicate clear written and verbal instructions to all manner of people.
  6. Work in an organised methodical manner to review designs and offer advice on improved manufacturability.
  7. Produce detailed manufacturing instructions for planners, operators, inspectors, and quality engineers to follow.
  8. UK national or resident in the UK for a minimum of five years, with eligibility to gain security clearance.
