Leadership Opportunity in Mental Health

An exciting leadership role has arisen in the CQC Outstanding rated Portsmouth Integrated Learning Disability Service for an experienced Clinical Psychologist.

The post-holder will work alongside senior management and clinical staff to deliver high-quality psychological care to people across the city. The role is supported by a Band 7 Clinical Psychologist and an Assistant Psychologist who are established in their posts.

The ILDS psychology service works in conjunction with the child and adolescent learning disability service (CAMHS-LD) and as such, the post holder would have oversight of the work of Psychology staff delivering care in this service. This allows for timely intervention at the point of transition for young people and their families.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be dynamic and flexible in their approach to work, including partnership working with other agencies, developing professional networks, and utilizing leadership skills to improve care and support for individuals with learning disabilities in the city. Opportunities for professional development within the service are available, along with expert clinical supervision from various sources to suit the individual.

We seek a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our team and contribute to the development of the psychology services within the Learning Disability service.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential
  1. Accreditation in Psychology or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996 by the BPS, specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies, and lifespan developmental psychology.
  2. Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Practitioner Psychologist.
  3. Post-doctoral training in one or more specialized areas of psychological practice.
  4. Formal training in supervision of other psychologists or equivalent experience.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This position is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975, requiring submission for Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
