The Senior Programme Manager will play a key role in the Innovations team, fostering close collaboration with the Business Development team. This individual will support the day-to-day delivery of new activities and funding calls aimed at expanding the NIHR offer to industry and its engagement with investors.

The Programme Lead will manage a portfolio of exciting projects led by small and medium enterprises, academia, and NHS Trusts, which are thriving to make an impact in the NHS and the UK economy.

This role requires developing close relationships with innovators and entrepreneurs, driving the collection of outcomes, contributing to the generation of case studies, and participating in the planning of ad hoc events, workshops, and/or webinars.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working to tight deadlines and competing priorities while maintaining a high quality of outputs.

What You Will Bring to the Role

Qualifications

  • Good understanding of the health and social care innovation ecosystem, including product development and the translational research pathway
  • Education to MSc/PhD level in biomedical, health, or engineering sciences
  • Experience working in research management, technology transfer environments, health tech accelerators, start-ups, or organisations supporting innovation
  • Experience engaging with industry at a senior level, either within sales, promotional, consultancy, or negotiation capacity
  • Experience working within multiple areas of the health, social care, and life sciences sector, including industry, academia, and the NHS, with proven experience in commercially focused projects
  • Experience managing diverse internal and external relationships
  • Understanding of intellectual property and commercial aspects in relation to research commercialisation
  • Committed team player
  • Excellent presentation and communications skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage own time to meet demanding deadlines and excellent attention to detail
