Job Title: Import Clerk

We are seeking an experienced Import Clerk to join our team at a well-established freight forwarding company. As an Import Clerk, you will be responsible for the movement of goods from another country, ensuring timely transit and delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the movement of goods from another country, ensuring timely transit and delivery
  • Sea freight quoting and customs clearance declaration
  • Liaising with overseas offices, partners, or agents
  • Responsible for arranging and completing all associated paperwork
  • Checking goods in as they arrive against paperwork to ensure all goods ordered are accounted for
  • Establishing contacts and relationships with HM Customs
  • Managing deadlines and negotiating with stakeholders to meet timescales
Requirements:
  • Minimum 2 years working in import department within freight forwarding
  • Experience with Chief (CDS), customs entries, and sea freight quotes
  • ETS transfers and Boxtop operating system experience advantageous
  • Descartes experience advantageous
  • Car licence due to location
  • Checkable 5-year employment history
  • Basic DBS Certificate
