The Role

We are in search of a skilled technical leader with a proven track record in developing and delivering reliable, high-performance automotive-grade software for distributed, advanced computing devices. As a key member of the Onboard Software Platform team, you will collaborate with an engineering team to deliver software for edge devices that reliably provide data, experimentation, validation, and autonomy across a large fleet of vehicles. In this role, you will be tasked with designing software architecture to integrate our machine learning-based autonomous driving solution into an automotive L2-L3 system application. This position holds significant visibility, offering broad technical leadership within a rapidly growing team and organization.

Expected Impact

As a Technical Lead for Embedded Automotive Software, you will be instrumental in developing and deploying software that underpins the operation of an advanced end-to-end AI model for autonomous driving. You will spearhead critical technical initiatives and ensure the robustness, compliance, and performance of our automotive embedded systems, which are essential to our autonomous vehicle solutions. Your responsibilities will include tackling complex technical challenges and collaborating with multiple teams to achieve significant program milestones in the automotive sector.

Key Challenges

  • Technical Program Leadership: Take charge of extensive areas of embedded software development and critical automotive programs. Ensure timely delivery by effectively managing requirements, technical risks, development strategies, milestones, and dependencies, with a strong emphasis on safety and compliance.
  • Software Architecture Design: Design and develop software architecture to integrate our machine learning-based autonomous driving solution into an automotive L2-L3 system application. Ensure seamless integration with OEM software environments to facilitate full sensor integration and data capture at the necessary scale and quality for fully autonomous vehicles.
  • Collaborative Development: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including machine learning engineers, software developers, system engineers, and product managers, to define and refine the software architecture.
  • Compliance and Safety: Collaborate with safety and functional safety teams to ensure the software architecture aligns with ISO 26262 functional safety standards and other relevant regulations. Support the team in implementing ASPICE-compliant processes.
  • Code Base Management: Maintain a robust, compliant, and scalable code base for embedded systems, promoting rapid development and future scalability.
  • Real-Time System Management: Deliver and maintain real-time Linux-based and QNX-based applications for a fleet of embedded devices in automobiles, including data collection, storage, and machine learning inference at the edge.
  • Fault Tolerance and Diagnostics: Develop and implement fault-tolerant software solutions with comprehensive system diagnostics to swiftly identify and resolve issues in deployed automotive systems.
  • Mentorship and Cultural Development: Provide mentorship to engineers, guiding their professional growth. Actively lead forums such as design reviews and architecture planning to foster a culture of engineering excellence and compliance.

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications

  • Proven Experience: Extensive experience in developing and deploying safety-critical automotive embedded software in C++ for automotive products, with a demonstrated history of leading large technical programs and teams.
