The Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS) is seeking a talented postdoctoral researcher to contribute to our research programmes in physical oceanography. The successful candidate will have a PhD in physical oceanography and experience in using traditional and/or autonomous observing methods, data analysis, and computing languages.

The postholder will work on NERC-funded research programmes, using autonomous observational platforms and sophisticated physical analysis to investigate the dynamics and impacts of ocean circulation in the North Atlantic. The research will focus on understanding climate-relevant ocean physics, including the causal relationships between climate-scale ocean circulation and coastal/shelf sea level around the UK and Ireland.

The ideal candidate will have a strong publication record, experience participating in oceanographic research cruises, and a good understanding of ocean boundary dynamics. They will also have a track record of identifying research opportunities and income generation.

Key Responsibilities:

Requirements:

  • PhD in physical oceanography
