About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant in Infection to join our team at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Infection Service, you will play a vital role in providing clinical advice and guidance to our clinicians and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct input to patients, contribute to Renal and Paediatrics Multidisciplinary teams, and lead the co-ordination of care of patients within Preston and Chorley Hospitals.
  • Be involved in the management of patients on the OPAT service.
  • Be involved in the Undergraduate Teaching of medical students.
  • Be involved in the clinical supervision of Higher Specialist Scientific Training.
  • Participate in the Infection Service Consultant on-call rota for Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust with additional cover during colleague's absence.
  • Assume a continuous commitment for care of patients, even if employed less than full-time, and ensure that adequate arrangements are made for leave and off-duty periods.
  • Promote high professional standards of clinical care for patients, both direct patient care and by the maintenance of continuing professional development.
  • Develop links with General Practitioners operating in the area.

Requirements
  • Primary Medical Qualification.
  • FRCPath or equivalent qualification.
  • Full and specialist registration (and a licence to practise) with the GMC (or eligible for registration within 6 months of interview).
  • Applicants that are UK trained, must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), in microbiology or joint CCT in infectious diseases and microbiology, or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.
  • Applicants that are non-UK trained, will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT.
