About the Role

Metro is seeking an experienced Airfreight Import Coordinator to join our Airfreight team on the Birmingham Business Park.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain customer standard operating procedures to ensure seamless import operations.
  • Provide accurate and timely financial reports to department managers, highlighting key job file metrics.
  • Take ownership of operational excellence, ensuring a 'customer-centric' approach is applied in all business interactions.
  • Deliver accurate and timely import documentation, including creation and issuance of necessary paperwork.
  • Demonstrate commercial acumen and in-depth understanding of job profitability.
  • Manage freighting and invoicing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Generate operational reports, identifying and escalating anomalies as necessary.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, airlines, and overseas partners/agents.
  • Ensure adherence to Metro's policies and procedures.
Key Performance Areas
  • Respond to clients in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Create and issue deliveries and documentation accurately and on time.
  • Avoid airline storage costs for Metro's account.
  • Ensure freighting and rating accuracy meets company policies.
  • Respond to purchase queries within company policy timeframes.
  • Monitor and manage costs and sales.
  • Follow up on operational reports and escalate anomalies.
  • Apply country-specific requirements.
Requirements
  • Industry knowledge of airfreight operations.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Strong numerical and commercial skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in computer systems, including Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office, with experience in Cargowise preferred.
