Job Overview

Certain Advantage, a leading Defence organisation, is seeking an experienced Safety Engineer to join their team on a 12-month contract. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of complex weapon systems and make a significant impact on safety assurance.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering safety analysis and assurance, working closely with internal delivery teams and external customers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hazard identification, risk analysis, and safety management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct hazard identification exercises, including SWIFT and HAZOP
  • Develop and implement safety plans, ensuring compliance with DEF-STAN 00-056
  • Liaise with stakeholders to define safety boundaries and develop safety arguments

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team. A detailed understanding of electronic engineering principles and experience with IEC 61508/DO178C/DO-254 are highly desirable.

Requirements

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual with:

  • Strong knowledge of safety engineering principles and practices
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Detailed understanding of electronic engineering principles
  • Experience with IEC 61508/DO178C/DO-254 (desirable)
