Job Title: Advanced Nurse Practitioner - Women's Health Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Highfield Surgery. As a Women's Health Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive care to our patients, focusing on preventative health, diagnosis, and management of acute and chronic conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients presenting with acute conditions, gathering medical history and performing physical examinations to determine the urgency and nature of their health issues.
  • Quickly triage patients based on the severity of their conditions, ensuring that those with urgent needs receive timely care.
  • Work closely with GP's, nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to patient care, sharing insights and updates as needed.
  • Provide patients and their families with information about their conditions, treatment options, and self-care strategies to manage their health effectively.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide immediate care, stabilizing patients and coordinating with emergency services if required.

Highfield Surgery is a large training practice located in the south shore area of Blackpool. We provide comprehensive services such as general medication consultations, chronic disease management, minor surgery, and specialist clinics for conditions like diabetes and asthma.

Person Specification:

  • Registered Nurse
  • Postgraduate diploma or degree (Advanced practice qualification)
  • Qualified Nurse prescriber
  • Qualification in women's or children's health
  • Teaching qualification

Experience:

  • Experience of working in a primary care environment
  • Experience of prescribing and undertaking medication reviews
  • Experience of working as a practice nurse or community nurse
  • Experience of chronic disease management

Clinical Knowledge and Skills:

  • ECG's
  • Venepuncture
  • Requesting pathology tests and processing the results, advising patients accordingly.
  • Diabetes
  • Asthma
  • Immunisations
  • Women's health (cervical cytology, contraception etc)
  • Ability to work within own scope of practice and understanding when to refer to GP's
  • Knowledge of health promotion strategies
  • Understands the requirement for PGD's and associated policy
  • Knowledge of public health issues in the local area
  • Awareness of issues within the wider health arena
