The NHS England board has set out the top-level purpose for the new organisation to lead the NHS in England to deliver high-quality services for all. As a Programme Manager - Cardiac Surgery and Interventional Cardiology Specialist, you will play a key role in achieving this purpose by:
- Enabling local systems and providers to improve the health of their people and patients and reduce health inequalities.
- Making the NHS a great place to work, where our people can make a difference and achieve their potential.
- Working collaboratively to ensure our healthcare workforce has the right knowledge, skills, values and behaviours to deliver accessible, compassionate care
- Optimising the use of digital technology, research, and innovation
- Delivering value for money.
As a Programme Manager - Cardiac Surgery and Interventional Cardiology Specialist, you will be responsible for:
- Providing network leadership and programme management for the cardiac specialised commissioning portfolio of work in collaboration with the Specialised Commissioning team and ICBs.
- Ensuring accurate and timely reporting structures are in place to inform commissioners and the network of waiting time performance and other key performance indicators.
- Understanding the vision and strategic aims of the Long-Term Plan and ensuring they are translated into network plans and defined outcomes.
- Leading on programme priorities to ensure plans are developed within relevant timescales for delivery of the change needed to improve health outcomes, reduce health inequalities, and maximise value for money.
- Applying a population health approach to improve health outcomes and actively reduce health inequalities.
- Providing appropriate governance and reporting programme progress against agreed objectives and action plan.
- Establishing and maintaining links with London system to ensure oversight of East of England population pathways into London.
- Acting as the East of England representative for the Congenital Heart Disease Network.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Education to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area.
- Experience of service change management, extensive knowledge of specialist areas, building effective cross-functional working relationships, complex pathway management and redesign, and developing, managing and motivating teams/individuals to ensure success.
- Demonstrable skills in presenting complex concepts and information across a wide range of audiences.
- Extensive knowledge of specialist areas acquired through postgraduate diploma or equivalent experience or training plus further specialist knowledge or experience.
- Understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy and appreciation of the implications of this on engagement.
- Evidence of post-qualifying and continuing professional development.
