Job Title: Nurture Higher Level Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Teaching Assistant to join our team at Beacon View Primary Academy. As a Nurture Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the development of our pupils and contributing to the school's mission to provide a life-changing education.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will have a strong background in primary education and experience in working with pupils who have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES). You will be responsible for planning and delivering lessons, working collaboratively with teachers and other support staff, and contributing to the development of school policies and strategies.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Plan and prepare lessons, participating in all stages of the planning cycle, including lesson planning, evaluating, and adjusting lessons/plans.
  • Develop and prepare resources for learning activities in accordance with lesson plans and in response to pupil need.
  • Contribute to the planning of opportunities for pupils to learn in out-of-school contexts in line with school policies and procedures.
  • Teach whole classes covering PPA and emergency staff absence, providing detailed verbal and written feedback on lesson content, pupil responses to learning activities, and student behavior.
  • Motivate and progress pupils' learning by using clearly structured, interesting teaching and learning activities.
  • Be familiar with lesson plans, SEND support plan targets, and learning objectives.
  • Be aware of and support difference, ensuring all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop.
  • Promote and support the inclusion of pupils, including those with specific needs, both in learning activities and within the classroom.
  • Use behavior management strategies, in line with the school's policy and procedures, to contribute to a purposeful learning environment and encourage pupils to interact and work co-operatively with others.
  • Organize and safely manage the appropriate learning environment and resources.
  • Promote and reinforce pupils' self-esteem and independence, employing strategies to recognize and reward achievement and self-reliance.
  • Assist the class teacher in encouraging acceptance and integration of pupils with special needs, or from different cultures and/or with different first language.
  • Support the role of parents in pupils' learning and contribute to/lead meetings with parents to provide constructive feedback on pupil progress, achievement, and behavior, maintaining sensitivity and confidentiality at all times.
Person Specification:

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • A minimum qualification of GCSE English & Maths at grade C/4 or above (or Level 2 or above equivalent qualification)
  • Hold the HLTA Qualification or equivalent, has a secure knowledge of primary education, and meets the HLTA standards
  • Experience of working in a school environment, interacting with parents and families, and a significant interest in the use of nurture to support children who have experienced ACES (training will be provided)
