Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Naval Architect to join our Submarine Naval Architecture Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supporting the design, development, and delivery of submarine projects for our UK and international customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct surveys on submarines to support design changes
  • Develop 3D models and perform naval architectural calculations to support concept design development and design changes
  • Perform structural analysis using hand calculations and finite element analysis
  • Conduct stability assessments using Paramarine Naval Architecture software
  • Perform hydrodynamic assessments using in-house tools and Computational Fluid Dynamics
  • Support engineering assessments for submarine life extensions
  • Participate in secondments to industry and the UK MOD to broaden your experience
Requirements
  • HNC/HND/Foundation Degree or Bachelors/Masters degree or postgraduate qualification in Naval Architecture or similar subject
  • Practical and relevant experience of conventional or nuclear submarine Naval Architecture is preferred
  • Membership of a recognised professional body and a strong desire to achieve professional status
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills with experience of completing work to time and quality
  • Experience of liaising with customers and communicating work in a clear and concise manner
  • Flexibility to be deployed on a range of projects and customer sites
