Therapy Assistant

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Occupational Therapy team in the London Spinal Cord Injury Centre at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust.
Main DutiesThe successful candidate will provide clinical and administrative support to our team of Occupational Therapists, ensuring the smooth running of the department. This will include managing therapeutic stock levels, providing guided hands-on therapy, and assisting with the teaching and supervision of exercises and functional activities.
About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive team, providing essential support to patients with spinal injuries. The postholder will be responsible for organizing and maintaining stocks of specialist equipment, including wheelchairs, and ensuring the equipment is cleaned according to RNOH infection control guidelines.
Person Specification- Basic written and spoken English
- Basic numeracy
- Secondary school level or equivalent GCSE in English and Mathematics
Desirable qualifications include in-service training in care work, NVQ (Care) Level 2/3, and experience working in a Therapies department, rehabilitation setting, or with people with disabilities.
Key Skills- Ability to organize own time effectively and prioritize workload
- Ability to communicate with a variety of people
- Ability to handle equipment within Health & Safety guidelines
- Ability to assess risk and identify necessary intervention to minimize risk factors
The ideal candidate will be able to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service, build constructive relationships with warmth and empathy, and use good communication skills. Basic IT skills, including competence in email, internet searches, and basic word processing and spreadsheets, are also essential.
