Pacific Biosciences is seeking a highly skilled Applications Scientist to join our team in London, UK. As a key member of our Applications Laboratory, you will be responsible for developing and optimizing application workflows to support commercial goals.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in DNA sequencing, molecular biology techniques, and instrumentation. They will be able to work independently and as part of a team to design and execute experiments, troubleshoot issues, and maintain lab operations.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Entry QC of samples
  • Constructing libraries and sequencing on current instrumentation
  • Carrying out pilot projects to support commercial goals
  • Supporting collaborations with strategic partners
  • Performing experiments to support technical field teams
  • Collaborating with bioinformaticians to coordinate data analysis
  • Generating reports for presentation to customers and internal teams

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with field teams and internal stakeholders. They will also have a strong understanding of genomics, particularly human genetics and their intersections with cutting-edge molecular technologies.

Experience with bioinformatics tools and single-molecule sequencing data would be a benefit, as would experience in a field-applications support role in the EMEA region.
