Job Summary

Wiltshire Council is seeking a skilled and compassionate individual to join our Refugee Resettlement and Migration Service as a Casework Support Officer. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting relocated families through transformative programs like Afghan Resettlement Schemes and UKRS, Homes for Ukraine.

Main Duties of the Job

As a Casework Support Officer, you will ensure a seamless transition for individuals relocated to Wiltshire, prioritizing access to public services and supporting families towards independence and integration in line with specific relocation scheme guidelines.

Job Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the delivery of resettlement programs in Wiltshire, ensuring outcomes align with the Council's Business Plan.
  • Working with the Council and other public services to deliver outcomes for resettlement programs in accordance with Home Office guidelines.
  • Assessing individual and family requirements, providing accurate and reliable information, and escalating issues as needed.
  • Collaborating with other Casework Support Officers to ensure adequate support is available to refugees during office hours.
  • Developing and maintaining support plans and case notes for each individual and family.
  • Providing advice and guidance to refugees on accessing employment opportunities and understanding British culture.
  • Supporting the development of ethnic minority communities in Wiltshire and promoting their integration into British society.

Person Specification

Essential qualifications and experience include:

  • Educated to HNC in English or Humanities or equivalent experience.
  • A good understanding of public services and the experience of new arrivals in the UK.
  • A good understanding of health and social care contexts and processes for making referrals.
  • Experience in following policies and procedures.
  • Experience in contributing to and maintaining records.
  • Experience of coordinating or working alongside other volunteers.

Desirable qualifications and experience include:

  • Experience in project and program management.
  • Experience of risk management principles and case conference working.
