Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced procurement professional to join our Digital & IT category team as a Principal Category Manager. As a key member of our team, you will lead a small team and take ownership for the delivery of three of our Digital & IT category frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Digital and IT Category to ensure effective management and delivery of portfolio framework agreements.
  • Review and negotiate draft contracts for the category area.
  • Lead and develop a small team of Category Managers and Buyers.
  • Pursue procurement excellence through the implementation of efficient and effective procurement projects within key markets.
  • Analyse data and identify areas of cost savings and operational improvements to advise procurement plans.
  • Support the Senior Category Manager with the management of key areas of improvement such as review of purchasing procedures, benchmarking, and day-to-day customer and supplier interactions.

Requirements

  • Experience of working within IT markets (or sub-categories) and knowledge of their supply chains.
  • Experience of working within a UK public sector procurement setting and working experience of UK Public Contracts Regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft office such as Excel, Word, & Outlook & E-Procurement platforms such as SAP Ariba.
  • CIPS Level 5 Diploma in Procurement and Supply Operations or working towards - or equivalent demonstrable experience.
  • Leading a team/ line management experience.
  • Contract management experience.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience and/or knowledge of NHS Terms and Conditions.
  • Experience and/or knowledge or working within the NHS.
