Job Title: Principal Procurement Category Manager Digital

We are seeking an experienced procurement professional to join our Digital & IT category team as a Principal Category Manager.

About the Role:

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong understanding of procurement principles and practices. As a Principal Category Manager, you will be responsible for leading a small team and taking ownership of the delivery of three Digital & IT category frameworks.

You will develop strategic sourcing programs and strategies across our client base, and be responsible for the delivery of several key projects. You will also work closely with the Digital and IT Category to ensure effective management and delivery of portfolio framework agreements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Reviewing and negotiating draft contracts for the category area.
  • Leading and developing a small team of Category Managers and Buyers.
  • Pursuing procurement excellence through the implementation of efficient and effective procurement projects within key markets.
  • Analysing data and identifying areas of cost savings and operational improvements to advise procurement plans.
  • Supporting the Senior Category Manager with the management of key areas of improvement such as review of purchasing procedures, benchmarking, and day-to-day customer and supplier interactions.
Requirements:
  • Experience of working within IT markets (or sub-categories) and knowledge of their supply chains.
  • Experience of working within a UK public sector procurement setting and working experience of UK Public Contracts Regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft office such as Excel, Word, & Outlook & E-Procurement platforms such as SAP Ariba.
  • CIPS Level 5 Diploma in Procurement and Supply Operations or working towards - or equivalent demonstrable experience.
  • Leading a team/ line management experience.
  • Contract management experience.
Desirable:
  • Experience and/or knowledge of NHS Terms and Conditions.
  • Experience and/or knowledge or working within the NHS.
