Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Clinical Psychologist to lead our Intensive Support Team for individuals with learning disabilities or autism who present to crisis services.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical supervision to band 7 and 8a psychological professionals, Clinical Associate Psychologists, and other professionals as required.

You will also provide specialist consultation and clinical input to a psychology/behavioural service to adults with intellectual disabilities, autism, or both whose behaviours significantly challenge and place them at risk of an admission/placement breakdown.

This role requires excellent working relationships with wider mental health services and core services of all inpatient wards and home treatment teams to ensure a smooth pathway for service-users and their families.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead on research projects as relevant for the post and in agreement with senior professional leads.
  • Develop the Intensive Support Team for people with a Learning disability or Autism who present to crisis services.
  • Provide high-quality clinical supervision to band 7 and 8a psychological professionals, Clinical Associate Psychologists, and other professionals as required.
  • Provide specialist consultation and clinical input to a psychology/behavioural service to adults with intellectual disabilities, autism, or both.
  • Ensure the unregistered psychological professions staff in the pathway are working to a clear job plan and receiving the operational and clinical supervision they require.
  • Work in close collaboration with community psychology services.
  • Ensure that a high-quality, timely, accessible, and evidence-based psychological service is available to all service users who need it.
