Job Description

You will be part of a world-class team in a fast-paced environment that has the entrepreneurial feel of a start-up. As a member of the Route 53 team, you will support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

The Route 53 team are looking for talented engineers who are motivated to solve complex challenges, yet are not constrained by 'how things are usually done' and are willing to decompose and reinvent systems, processes, and tools. If you possess that rare mix of depth in Operations, Networking, and Systems Engineering then we are waiting for your application.

About the Role

  • Drive the design and implementation of new services.
  • Use your Linux and networking skills to troubleshoot, innovate fixes and workarounds.
  • Dive deep to root cause a customer issue.
  • Investigate why a metric is trending the wrong way.
  • Consult with the top engineers at Amazon.
  • Discuss radical new approaches to automate operational issues.
  • Implement automation to scale operational efficiencies.

About AWS Cloud

AWS Utility Computing provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon's Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS's services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you'll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

About Locations

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations: Thames Valley, POST-BER, GBR.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science or related field, or relevant work experience.
  • Working knowledge of Linux system administration.
  • Experience of systems automation using BASH, Python, Perl, etc.
  • Experience of network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, HTTP).
  • Good troubleshooting skills at all levels, from application to network to host.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Exposure to cloud computing concepts and design considerations.
  • Experience in a production environment.
  • Experience of monitoring frameworks (such as CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, Elastic or similar).

Benefits and Salary Information

Salary range for this position is between £80,000 - £120,000 per annum based on experience and qualifications. Additionally, we offer a range of benefits including flexible working hours, employee-led affinity groups, mentorship opportunities, and more.
