Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Shipping Coordinator to join our team at Siemens Energy. As a key member of our SGT Shipping department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth processing of imports and exports in line with customs procedures and regulations.

About the Role

As a Shipping Coordinator, you will be responsible for ensuring that all shipments are processed accurately and efficiently. This includes checking invoicing accuracy, preparing customs documentation, and coordinating with freight forwarders. You will also be responsible for investigating and correcting shipping errors, as well as ensuring that all processes are followed within the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Check invoicing accuracy and rectify any errors
  • Ensure manifest is correct for daily shipments and paperwork fully prepared to support on time freight forwarder collections
  • Create documentation for customs for all export shipments from the plant using SAP system
  • Book collections using approved freight forwarders
  • Tracking proof of deliveries when requested
  • Investigating and correcting shipping errors
  • Ensure correct processes are followed within the department and look at ways to optimize our processes
  • Liaise with EC for exporting shipments
  • Liaise with Customs team for any customs related issues on imports/exports
  • Production and validation of certificates of origin
  • Process relevant Dangerous Goods shipments for road/sea/air
  • Process and monitor any manual shipment requests where required
  • Able to engage and operate in freight forwarder booking tools

Requirements

  • Significant experience in a customer-facing role within a transport or shipping background
  • Proficient with MS Office
  • Proficient with ERP systems (preferably SAP)
  • Understanding of the export documentation requirement for shipments to countries outside the UK
  • Working knowledge of Incoterms. (DAP, FCA etc)
  • Working knowledge of out of gauge shipments (we ship items weighing 70+ tonnes)
  • Experience with Dangerous Goods
