About the Role:

The Unit Manager is a key position within Sja's West, responsible for overseeing the development and community output of our youth programs. This role requires a unique blend of management and leadership skills, with a focus on empowering young people and volunteers to achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Development: Collaborate with the youth leader team to design and deliver engaging session plans that align with Sja's West values and goals.
  • Cadet Management: Induct new cadets into the unit, manage their IT, uniform, and training needs, and facilitate their transition to adult roles.
  • Virtual Meetings and Development Days: Plan and lead virtual meetings and in-person development days to ensure the unit's progress and growth.
  • Leadership and Mentorship: Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to youth leaders and cadets, fostering a culture of empowerment and inclusivity.
  • Community Engagement: Work with the cadets to develop and implement social action projects that benefit the local community.

Requirements:

  • Leadership and Management Experience: Proven track record of leading and managing teams, with a focus on youth development and community engagement.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with young people, volunteers, and stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving and Adaptability: Ability to think critically and adapt to changing circumstances, with a focus on finding solutions that benefit the unit and the community.
