Job Overview

This role sits within the Diabetes Dietetic team at St Richards Hospital and works closely with a multi-disciplinary team to provide dietetic care to children with Diabetes.

We see patients face to face and travel to homes and school to support patients and their families to manage their diabetes.

This post offers the support of a friendly department and experienced multidisciplinary team.

Main Duties of the Job

Work as part of the dietetic and multidisciplinary teams to provide highly specialist advice, education and support to patients, carers and other health professionals within the speciality of paediatric diabetes.

Provide training to undergraduate Dietitians, supervising their clinical placements.

Participate in continuing professional development, audit and research within this specialist area to further best practice.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities

St Richard's Hospital, is a 450-bed district general hospital situated in Chichester.

It is part of University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.

Dietetic specialities include acute, diabetes, gastroenterology, paediatrics, bariatrics, nutrition support, eating disorders and community Dietetics.

We train student dietitians for A, B and C placements.

Person Specification

Essential

Essential criteria

  • Degree or post graduate diploma dietetics
  • HCPC registered Dietitian
  • At least 3 years post graduate NHS experience with at least 2 years at senior level
  • Recent experience of working in the nutritional management of patients in this speciality
  • Experience of Multidisciplinary working
  • Experience of managing own complex caseload
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills with people from a wide variety of backgrounds
  • Able to motivate self and others
  • Able to deal with demanding and distressed patients and their carers
  • Ability to adapt to change in planning activities
