SEND Teacher Job Description

Job Type: Part-time, Contract Type: Permanent

We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teacher to join our team at a thriving Special School in Southend-on-Sea. This part-time role offers a great opportunity for someone looking to balance work and personal commitments while making a meaningful impact on the lives of students with special educational needs.

As a SEND Teacher, you will work with small class sizes and a highly supportive team to provide tailored learning opportunities for students with a range of complex needs, including autism and communication difficulties. You will be responsible for planning and delivering personalised lessons, collaborating with support staff to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment, and liaising with parents and external professionals to support student well-being and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons for students with special educational needs.
  • Collaborate with support staff to create a safe and engaging classroom environment.
  • Support students with moderate to severe learning difficulties and autism.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting teaching methods as needed.
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals to support student well-being and development.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience teaching SEND students is desirable, but not essential.
  • A strong understanding of SEND teaching strategies and a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff.
