Residential Support Worker (Primary) Role

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Support Worker to join a fantastic primary school in Newcastle. As a Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing emotional and practical support to primary-aged children, promoting a positive and safe environment, and encouraging participation in school and extracurricular activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide emotional and practical support to primary-aged children, including assisting with daily routines and promoting a positive and safe environment.
  • Support children with social, emotional, and behavioural challenges, and encourage participation in school and extracurricular activities.
  • Liaise with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students in your care.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students in your care.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a support or care role, ideally within a residential setting.
  • A genuine passion for working with children and a strong understanding of the challenges faced by children with additional needs.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations.
  • A relevant qualification in childcare or education (desirable).
  • A flexible approach to working hours and shifts.
