Job Title: Accident & Health Assistant Underwriter

Next Employment is seeking a skilled Accident & Health Assistant Underwriter to join our London team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in building a profitable portfolio and contributing to the growth of our Accident and Health line.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the underwriting and processing of new business, renewals, and endorsements.
  • Liaise with brokers, internal departments, and external advisers to ensure seamless communication.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and clients to drive business growth.
  • Work with clients to develop books of business and ensure clear communication on key issues.
  • Process new and renewal business and endorsements to agreed service standards.
  • Organize client accounts and provide general assistance to underwriters.
  • Work with the team to ensure efficient working practices and adopt the right first-time principle.
  • Monitor industry trends and analyze performance for strategic accounts.
  • Assist underwriters and actuaries with pricing for strategic accounts.
  • Produce quarterly performance reports for each strategic account.
Requirements:
  • Previous Accident & Health insurance experience - 2+ years.
  • Analytical experience required.
  • Strong attention to detail, administration skills, file keeping, and effective organization.
  • Wording skills - understanding of Accident & Health products and endorsements.
  • Understanding of consumer duty and its application to the management of existing and new products.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a team-oriented approach.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong time management.
  • Effective relationship management to initiate opportunities for cross-selling offered products and ensuring account retention.
  • Competent computer skills - must include Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook as a minimum.
