Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Tanker Driver to join our team at Biffa. As a key member of our transport operations, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient collection, transportation, and disposal of customers' waste.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive and operate vehicles as directed by the traffic office and operations manager, ensuring the efficient and effective collection, transportation, and disposal of customers' waste.
  • Adhere to company processes and procedures, including health and safety procedures, at all times, promoting safe practice and reporting near misses.
  • Undertake routine vehicle checks in an accurate and timely manner, reporting defects where appropriate.
  • Complete all paperwork, including daily timesheets, in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Provide sickness, breakdown, and holiday cover for other colleagues when necessary.
  • Attend training courses, mode meetings, and tool-box-talks when required, ensuring that skills and knowledge are kept up to date.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with internal colleagues and external customers, providing consistently high levels of customer service at all times.
  • Carry out any other reasonable job-related tasks, including any other ad hoc tasks.

Requirements

  • Previous Class 1/2 driving experience.
  • DCPC.

Education & Qualifications

  • Class 1/2 LGV License.
  • Valid ADR qualification (desirable).

Skills and Behaviours

  • Ability to safely manoeuvre LGVs into restricted and confined spaces.
  • Good organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to work away from home on a regular basis, nighting out in your cab frequently.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Good communication skills.
