Job Description

Carrington West is currently recruiting for a Building Control Surveyor to join their highly organised team in Staffordshire. This contract is expected to last around 6 months, with the possibility of extensions.

The successful candidate will be responsible for advising the public on the requirements of Building Regulations and other related legislation. They will also process complex applications under Building Regulations, liaise with and offer guidance to applicants, and draft determinations.

In addition, they will carry out inspections to ensure compliance with statutory requirements, engaging specialist colleagues when required. The role also involves dangerous structure call outs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Advise the public on Building Regulations and related legislation
  • Process complex applications under Building Regulations
  • Liaise with and offer guidance to applicants
  • Draft determinations
  • Carry out inspections to ensure compliance with statutory requirements
  • Engage specialist colleagues when required
  • Dangerous structure call outs

Salary: £55 per hour

Requirements:
  • Significant experience in building control (Fire and structures)
  • Significant stakeholder liaison experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Building Regulations
  • Experience of working under pressure to deliver results within challenging timeframes
  • Good customer relations skills
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Experience of assisting and negotiating with design teams and major stakeholders

Estimated Salary: £33,800 - £41,600 per annum based on a 37-hour week
