Job Description:

We are currently seeking an exceptional Lead Manufacturing Engineer to join our client's team in Devon. As a key member of the manufacturing department, you will play a vital role in driving operational excellence, developing efficient processes, and championing lean manufacturing practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive operational excellence by developing efficient manufacturing processes and leading cost-saving initiatives.
  • Collaborate with plant leadership to meet business and financial goals while ensuring compliance with UK, European regulations, and customer standards.
  • Champion lean manufacturing practices to eliminate waste, improve quality, and exceed customer expectations.
  • Lead root cause analyses, failure investigations, and continuous improvement events to enhance performance.
  • Implement Six Sigma strategies to reduce variation and boost process reliability.
  • Support new product development with design for manufacturing (DFM) and value engineering principles.
  • Recommend and manage capital investments for emerging technologies.
  • Train and mentor team members, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
  • Develop and audit process documentation to address quality and production challenges.
  • Ensure all functional KPIs are achieved through robust planning and execution.

Requirements:

  • Strong grasp of engineering design, lean manufacturing, and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Proficiency in problem-solving tools (8D, root cause analysis, FMEA) and statistical techniques (SPC, DOE, Gage R&R).
  • Familiarity with ProLaunch, CAD/CAM software, and industry-specific quality standards (ISO9001, AS9100).
  • Expertise in manufacturing techniques like metal cutting, injection molding, welding, and tool design.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage supplier/customer interfaces.
  • Experience in coaching and performance management.

Benefits:

We offer a competitive compensation package, including a salary range of £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience. You will also have access to a comprehensive benefits program, including health insurance, retirement savings, and paid time off.
