We are seeking an experienced Academic Psychologist to join our team as a Subject Specialist Teacher. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspiring and challenging students towards their aspirations, using their subject knowledge and expertise to help young people achieve their future career aspirations.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for Psychology and a commitment to delivering high-quality education. They will be able to build positive relationships with young people and support them to achieve their long-term career goals. The successful candidate will also be able to use their expertise and emotional intelligence to unlock barriers to student progress and provide the tools, support, and challenge they need to succeed.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Planning lessons in line with the needs of the students and curriculum area schemes of work
- Regularly setting and marking work according to college policies
- Monitoring and reporting on the progress of students, especially through review and reporting procedures
- Recording and issuing the collection of resources from students
- Communicating with staff concerning the organisation of students in shared groups
- Attending parents' consultation evenings, interview evenings, and other similar College events
- Preparing materials and attending Preview/Open evenings
- Interviewing prospective students
- Contributing to the preparation and delivery of the induction process
- Setting work to cover absence
- Covering classes for absent colleagues according to contractual requirements as directed by the relevant post-holder
- Participating positively in the professional appraisal process
- Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of recent developments in the subject/curriculum area and reporting on courses attended
- Attending curriculum area meetings within contractual requirements
- Participating in recording student achievement according to College Policy
- Exercising effective supervision of learners and ensuring that they know of the general emergency procedures in respect of fire and first aid and the special safety measures of the area
- Giving clear instructions and warnings as often as necessary
- Ensuring that learners are ready to learn
- Making recommendations on safety matters to the Curriculum Leader
- Flexibility to meet deadlines in a challenging, multi-functional, and multi-disciplined role
- Chasing for information and maintaining accurate and up-to-date information
- Dealing with difficult people or circumstances in a professional and logical structure, aligned to policy, procedures, and legislation
- Managing and prioritizing actions in relation to learner issues and concerns
- Providing guidance and advice within procedures, policy, and legislation
- Putting into practice effective organisational and time management skills
