Design Engineer Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Design Engineer to join our Component Engineering Base Engine Team. This role will focus on designing solutions to address challenging requirements, either within New Product Introduction or updates to existing platforms for various client and 3rd Party applications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and packaging of core engine components, including major aluminium and cast iron castings, geartrain, valvetrain, drivetrain, and in-cylinder components.
  • Developing solutions for issues arising from Quality and Manufacturing environments.
  • Establishing strong relationships with suppliers to ensure design solutions align with high quality and cost expectations.
  • Supporting FMEA on components and systems to identify and address design risks and determine validation needs.
  • Conducting or generating reports to support component and system design reviews.
  • Supporting field and production issues, determining root cause, implementing containment actions, and developing permanent corrective actions.
Requirements:
  • Strong technical background, preferably with a HNC or technical degree in mechanical or automotive engineering.
  • Good understanding of Manufacturing Assembly principles.
  • Design knowledge of engine & mechanical components and systems.
  • Design experience gained in the off-highway diesel or machine sector.
  • Knowledge and usage of Team Centre data management software.
  • New design development following the APQP methodology.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft O365, including Teams.

Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 08:45, Friday 08:15 (37 hours a week).

Salary: Negotiable (depending on experience).
