Job Role:
The Senior Commercial Consultancy Advisor will be responsible for providing comprehensive technical expertise on the administration of building contracts and issuing certificates. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong technical knowledge of construction contracts and cost management, and the ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures preparation of contract documents, warranties, bonds, and licenses, and assists in their formal execution.
- Provides technical expertise on the administration of building contracts.
- Measures and provides valuations of work carried out and adjusts variations according to contract terms.
- Adequately controls costs and reports services during the contract.
- Develops financial reports for clients in required form and frequency.
- Manages all costs associated with design changes, contract awards, construction activities, and client charges.
- Evaluates claims for delay and additional costs made by contractors and nominated subcontractors/suppliers.
- Issues certificates of practical completion and final accounts, negotiating and agreeing them.
- Issues certificates of making good defects and final completion as per requirements.
- Identifies and implements continuous improvement plans, suggesting business improvements.
- Develops and maintains internal and external relationships, managing stakeholders.
- Influences key stakeholders, working collaboratively towards net-zero carbon transition goals.
Requirements:
- Demonstrable experience in delivering service excellence to clients.
- Proven commercial management experience.
- Sound understanding of costs and timescales, implications of risk failure to deliver.
- Experience in risk management, change control management, and different types of contracts.
- BIM techniques and applications knowledge.
- Negotiation and analytical skills.
- Digitally competent.
- Quantity surveying/cost management degree or equivalent.
- Detailed knowledge of various contracts.
- Value engineering, life cycle costing, contract law, and contractual frameworks knowledge.
- Proficient sector/market knowledge and relevant technical qualification.
- Contractual frameworks knowledge.
- Effective communication with stakeholders.
- Ability to seek improved working practices.
- Stakeholder management.
- Interpersonal skills for report writing, negotiation, and stakeholder building.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills.
