About the Role

The Health and Nutrition Inspector will be responsible for monitoring and reporting on the implementation of the Schools (Health Promotion and Nutrition) (Scotland) Act 2007. This involves conducting inspections of primary, secondary, and special schools to assess the quality and impact of health and wellbeing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and report on the implementation of the Schools (Health Promotion and Nutrition) (Scotland) Act 2007
  • Contribute to the school inspection programme by providing independent evaluation and assurance about the standards and quality of learning in health and wellbeing
  • Take a lead role in food provision and food as a context for learning within health and wellbeing
  • Work in partnership with key organisations to support and promote improvements in food provision and food as a context for learning in Scotland's schools
  • Build capacity for improvement by identifying and sharing effective practice, developing materials, and providing support to local authorities and their partners
  • Represent Education Scotland at meetings, conferences, and other public events
Requirements

A relevant degree in dietetics or nutrition is required for this post. The successful candidate will have proven successful professional experience in education or services for children and young people, as well as strong knowledge and understanding of current policies, issues, and practice in relation to food, nutrition, and health and wellbeing.
