We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at the East Lancashire Alliance. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care and contributing to the improvement of medicines optimisation processes within our Primary Care Network (PCN).
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Pharmacy Technician, your key responsibilities will include:
- Working closely with our Clinical Pharmacists to ensure effective medicines use and optimisation;
- Providing expert advice and support to patients, carers, and healthcare professionals on medicines-related matters;
- Conducting medicines reconciliation and optimisation tasks, including effective medicine administration and supporting medication reviews;
- Developing and implementing shared care protocols and liaising with Clinical Pharmacists for complex patients;
- Supporting initiatives for antimicrobial stewardship and reducing inappropriate antibiotic prescribing;
- Providing training and support on the legal, safe, and secure handling of medicines, including the implementation of the Electronic Prescription Service (EPS);
- Promoting Electronic Repeat Dispensing (eRD) and online ordering;
- Developing relationships with other pharmacy professionals and members of the multi-disciplinary team to support integration across health and social care;
- Supporting practice reception teams in streaming general prescription requests;
- Supporting the implementation of national prescribing policies and guidance within GP practices, care homes, and other primary care settings.
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Pharmacy Technician who possesses the following skills and qualifications:
- Professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC);
- Meets the specific qualification and training requirements as specified by the GPhC criteria to register as a Pharmacy Technician;
- Experience of working as a qualified, registered pharmacy technician in primary care, community, or hospital pharmacy;
- Computer literacy with an ability to use Microsoft Office packages and GP clinical systems;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, carers, and healthcare professionals;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to meet service needs and ensure a stakeholder-focused response.
