As a skilled Mission Critical Software Developer, you will play a pivotal role in the development of real-time simulation software to support the training of fast jet aircrew for UK and overseas customers.

This exciting opportunity exists within the Synthetic Training Team at BAE Systems, where you will work alongside a dynamic team designing, developing, testing and maintaining the software used to support a range of aircrew training activities.

You will be responsible for developing simulations for aircrew training simulators, including defining, deriving and maintaining requirements using DOORS, as well as estimating timescales and working to them.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to use your skills and experience to coach and mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the success of the team.

We are looking for an ambitious and self-confident individual with a degree in Software/Computing or equivalent relevant experience, who has experience of software development covering programming in various languages such as C#, C/C++, Java, ADA, Visual Basic.

The successful candidate will also have knowledge/experience of Airborne subsystems (Typhoon specific subsystems desirable) and software design patterns and principles.

You will work in a collaborative environment, using configuration management and continuous integration/deployment tools such as Dimensions, BitBucket and Bamboo.

This is a challenging and rewarding role that offers a competitive salary of £47,683 - £52,426 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
