Carbon Accounting Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Carbon Accounting Specialist to join our Sustainability and Carbon team within the Environment and Health department. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in supporting corporate carbon accounting, net zero initiatives, and sustainability advisory projects.
Key Responsibilities- Support projects delivering carbon accounting assessments, including Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions, setting targets, and developing and implementing carbon reduction strategies and net-zero roadmaps tailored to client needs.
- Provide guidance on carbon management best practices and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with our other service offerings, such as Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Carbon management in infrastructure projects, sustainability services, and whole life carbon assessments (LCAs).
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced professional with a strong background in carbon accounting and sustainability. You will have a proven track record of delivering projects, developing strategies, and implementing change in the carbon areas described above.
- Familiarity with emissions factor databases and potentially third-party GHG software tools.
- Knowledge of reporting frameworks such as CDP, TCFD, and awareness of developments in the field, such as those around corporate sustainability reporting (EU CSRD, SASB, GRI).
- Some familiarity with industry standards like Science-Based Targets (SBTi) and the Transition Pathway Initiative.
- Proficiency in numerical analysis, e.g., Excel or carbon accounting software or digital platforms for carbon accounting.
- Effective engagement and relationship-building skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both internal colleagues and external clients.
