Job Overview

Tencent's Venture Lab is seeking a highly skilled Technical Director to join our team. As a key member of our innovation hub, you will work closely with our portfolio studios to provide technical advisory and support. This role emphasizes a collaborative, advisory position, requiring travel and ensuring our studio partners have the resources and guidance needed to succeed in the competitive gaming market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with our portfolio companies to address production-related issues and challenges, including frequent travel
  • Drive quality in a collaborative and constructive manner, partnering with essential team members to create an organizational structure and processes that enable efficient production of high-quality work on time and on budget
  • Contribute to strategic product planning, franchise, and lifecycle management
  • Establish effective processes for project tracking, including milestone reviews and feedback
  • Prepare and regularly communicate project status information to management
  • Work on Gaas and innovation promotions

Requirements

  • Drive quality in a collaborative and constructive manner, partnering with essential team members to create an organizational structure and processes that enable efficient production of high-quality work on time and on budget
  • Possess an inquisitive mind and understanding of the latest technology in game development
  • Contribute to strategic product planning, franchise, and lifecycle management
  • Establish effective processes for project tracking, including milestone reviews and feedback
  • Prepare and regularly communicate project status information to management
  • Work on Gaas and innovation promotions
  • 10+ years of experience as a Technical Director or Director of Engineering
  • Leadership experience in setting strategic direction, with outstanding organizational skills and ability
  • Experience managing a production team, ideally externally, with experience in medium-large teams or development studios within the video game industry
  • Understanding of a wide range of project management concepts, tools, and approaches, with the ability to tailor methods to meet the requirements of the team
  • Experience delivering multiple high-quality entertainment experiences, understanding the motivations of your player base, and assessing innovation to deliver upon expectations
