About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Plasma Operations Manager to lead our Plasma Control team in the pursuit of commercial fusion energy.

As a key member of our Diagnostics, Data and Control Department, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership and expertise in plasma control and operations, supporting various Tokamak Energy programmes, including ST40 and the Fusion Pilot Plant programme.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to ensure high-quality software delivery across the Plasma Control team's projects.
  • Develop and execute the team-level technical strategy, including the long-term development of Tokamak Energy's Plasma Control Systems and related modelling tools.
  • Lead the safety, well-being, growth, and performance of the Plasma Control team members.
  • Effectively manage resource allocation to support project requirements.
  • Act as an escalation point and support for team members on work-related issues.

Requirements:

  • Technical expertise in plasma control, control engineering, plasma physics, or a related field.
  • Demonstrable experience in applying software development best practices.
  • Excellent people management skills, including managing performance and development through effective 1:1 conversations.
  • Delivery-focused with ability to understand customer needs and effectively prioritise, organise, and allocate resources to deliver complex projects.
