About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the National Farmers Union (NFU) as a Legal Assistance Scheme Advisor. As a key member of the NFU's Legal department, you will provide expert legal advice and support to our members, helping them navigate complex legal issues and disputes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal and technical advice to NFU members, including managing caseloads and promoting the scheme within designated regions and counties.
  • Consider individual and group applications for assistance and make financial awards in line with the Rules of the Scheme.
  • Work collaboratively with a team of advisors and a manager to monitor and audit cases, while working with NFU Legal Panel Firms.
Requirements
  • 3-5 years post-qualification experience within private practice or an in-house legal department.
  • Sound legal advice and experience managing caseloads using a case management system.
  • Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment with competing demands.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to analyze complex legal and technical information.
  • Good listener, empathetic, and detail-oriented, with an understanding of litigation procedure and SRA requirements.
