Quarry Manager Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Quarry Manager to join our team at a quarry located near Lancaster, Lancashire. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the quarry, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage and develop a team of quarry operatives to ensure business continuity and reduce business risk
  • Lead change and continuous improvement initiatives, maintaining disciplined stock management processes and producing operational reports
  • Oversee all aspects of budgetary control for all quarrying operations
  • Proactively manage an effective maintenance scheme for the quarry plant and equipment
  • Maintain and implement Standard Operating Procedures and risk assessments
  • Manage and oversee the safe operation of the plant and the planned preventative maintenance of all of the site's equipment fixed and mobile
  • Report and investigate any unsafe or hazardous working practices
  • Issue safety briefings and toolbox talks to the operational team
  • Manage proactively both mandatory training and developmental training of staff
  • Collate and report monthly performance KPIs and drive operational performance
Requirements
  • Full knowledge of Risk Assessments and Safe System of Work Systems
  • Working knowledge of production processes, Health, Safety and Environmental policies
  • SHE NVQ Level 4/QCF Level 6
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint (SAP advantageous)
  • Ability to multitask and confidently manage change
  • Good understanding of different methods of winning and extracting raw material
  • Knowledge of techniques employed to load and transport extracted minerals
  • Working knowledge handling raw materials including feeding, crushing, screening, washing, separation, classification and beneficiation techniques
  • IOSH/NEBOSH advantageous
  • Diploma in Quarry Technology/FdSc Extractives Technology advantageous
