Job Summary
This temporary position is available for a dedicated and enthusiastic Early Years Foundation Stage Teaching Assistant to join our team in supporting the educational and social development of young children.
Key Responsibilities
- Classroom Support
- Assist in planning and implementing a curriculum that aligns with the Early Years Foundation Stage framework.
- Support children in small groups or one-to-one as needed, promoting positive behavior and encouraging good manners.
- Help set up and organize learning activities and environments, ensuring a variety of materials and resources are available.
- Observe and assess children's progress, maintaining accurate records of their development.
- Provide regular feedback to the class teacher on children's progress and any areas of concern.
- Foster a nurturing and stimulating environment that supports the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development of each child.
- Encourage children to develop independence, self-confidence, and a love of learning through play and structured activities.
- Support the development of language, literacy, numeracy, and other foundational skills.
- Assist with personal care routines, ensuring children's health and safety.
- Promote positive behavior and implement the school's behavior management policies.
- Use positive reinforcement and strategies to manage challenging behavior.
- Encourage respect and cooperation among children.
- Build positive relationships with parents and carers, providing regular updates on their child's progress and well-being.
- Participate in parent meetings, open days, and other events as required.
- Prepare and maintain learning resources and equipment.
- Assist with record-keeping and administrative tasks.
- Contribute to displays and visual aids in the classroom.
- Participate in training opportunities to stay informed about best practices in early childhood education.
- Reflect on personal practice and set goals for continuous improvement.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times, adhering to school policies and procedures.
- Conduct regular risk assessments of the learning environment.
- Report any concerns regarding child protection or welfare to the designated safeguarding lead.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Relevant qualifications in early childhood education (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Certificate in Early Years Education and Care).
- Experience working with young children in an educational setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
