About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mental Health Team Lead to join our team at NELFT NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our West Kent service, you will play a vital role in leading our Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) and contributing to the delivery of high-quality mental health services to children and young people.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of mental health professionals in providing efficient, effective, and comprehensive MHST services to children and adolescents with emotional and mental health problems.
  • Contribute to multi-disciplinary assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with emotional and mental health problems, their carers/parents, and families.
  • Undertake a range of generic clinical work, guided self-help, targeted group work, and workshops under the Whole School Approach.
  • Provide consultation on MHST cases to Emotional Health Practitioners (EMHPs) and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) professionals, and lead by example in promoting the NELFT 5Ps.
  • Contribute to audit and research, ensuring the delivery of interventions aligns with NICE guidelines and Routine Outcome Measures (ROMs).
  • Monitor and guide the team in ensuring safety benchmarks are met, as set by NELFT and the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
  • Support Operational Leads with day-to-day service management, including monitoring governance and compliance.
  • Act up in the absence of the Operational Manager for short periods.
Requirements
  • Relevant graduate qualification with a recognized professional body.
  • A minimum of a second-class Bachelor's degree from a UK university or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard in a relevant academic subject (Psychology, Education, Childhood Development, Social Work, etc.).
  • Substantial Band 6 experience within a CYP Mental Health setting or equivalent.
  • Experience in offering Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) interventions within a CYP Mental Health Setting with children and young people with mental health difficulties.
  • Extensive experience of providing clinical and managerial supervision.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and effectively within a team.
  • Knowledge of MHST legislation in relation to children and adolescents and safeguarding procedures and policies.
  • Knowledge of risk management, ability to monitor and assess risk, and act accordingly to ensure safety.
