Job Title: Apprentice Commercial Quantity Surveyor

We are seeking a talented Apprentice Commercial Quantity Surveyor to join our team at Dyer & Butler.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to develop their skills and knowledge in commercial quantity surveying. As an Apprentice Commercial Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for supporting our commercial team in delivering successful projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide commercial support across projects to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Work collaboratively with the commercial team to ensure coordination and provision across all aspects of project delivery.
  • Undertake pre-contract setup, including forecasting, measurement, sub-contract tendering, and procurement.
  • Effectively manage the commercial aspects of various projects, including valuations, budget monitoring, material reconciliation, and contract variations.
  • Prepare and manage final accounts, and negotiate their agreement.
  • Procure and manage subcontract packages, and support other members of the commercial team in managing subcontract packages.
  • Produce and maintain project forecasts to support monthly commercial and financial reporting procedures.
  • Assess, review, and mitigate commercial and contractual risks.
  • Manage the commercial team to ensure delivery of these items and develop their knowledge.
  • Provide support and training for site staff on commercial issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal requirements, including contractual and legislative.
  • Ensure compliance with Dyer & Butler standards and procedures in respect of commercial activities.
  • Assist with control of project documentation.
Requirements
  • Degree or HND qualification in Quantity Surveying or other relevant subject.
  • Strong level of identifiable commercial experience within the construction industry.
  • Demonstrable experience of working on Highways and Civil Engineering projects.
  • Good command and communication of oral and written English.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office (e.g., Excel) and other computer skills.
