CAMHS Specialist Grade Doctor: Tier 3 Community Sutton

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Grade Psychiatrist to join our CAMHS team in Sutton, a leafy suburb of South West London. The postholder will work closely with a senior CAMHS Consultant and other experienced Mental Health Clinicians within the Service.
Job SummaryThis is a full-time, 10PA substantive post, with the possibility of part-time working. The post is a new creation due to the reconfiguration of services. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead on service development with the Consultant and senior leadership team, as well as take up a special interest and/or take an active role in teaching.
Main DutiesThe postholder will provide both medical and psychological treatment for individuals and families with severe mental health needs. They will also be responsible for leading on service development, taking up a special interest, and/or taking an active role in teaching. The post is within a multidisciplinary team providing a community service and has close links with local authority, education, and the wider borough structure.
About UsThe Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Directorate of Southwest London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust is a well-established provider of mental health services to the boroughs of Richmond, Sutton, Kingston, Merton, and Wandsworth. The local Sutton CAMHS team is highly specialist, comprising family therapy, psychology, risk management nurses, and DBT specialists. The team has access to trust-wide services, including the DBT group program, eating disorder service, emergency services, and a Learning Disability Service.
Person Specification- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- MRCPsych (or equivalent) Paper A and B
- Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management
- Additional clinical qualifications
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice at the time of appointment
- Good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
- Approved under S12 or able to achieve with 6 months of appointment
- Minimum 12 years' experience post-qualification and at least 6 of those in the specialty (psychiatry) with at least 2 years in CAMHS
- Excellent clinical skills in the assessment and management of complex mental health conditions in children and adolescents
- Training and experience in working with systems and agencies to support children and adolescents' mental health
- Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA
- Excellent knowledge in the specialty
- Knowledge and experience in psychopharmacology as applicable to CAMHS
- Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training
- Excellent written and oral communication skills or willing to undertake training to improve this
- Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty
- Makes decisions based on evidence and experience, including the contribution of others
- Demonstrate commitment to shared leadership and collaborative working to deliver improvement
- Participated or demonstrate willingness to participate in continuous professional development
- Able to use and appraise clinical evidence
- Has actively participated or demonstrate a willingness to participate in clinical audit and quality improvement programmes
