Job Summary:

We are seeking an hourly paid Astrophysics Laboratory Technician to assist in the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning. Duties will include providing technical support and supervision for activities such as laboratory supervision, observing sessions, planetarium provision, and problem classes.

You will also be responsible for delivering small-scale outreach events, summer schools, and managing the observatory's social media presence. Scheduling will acknowledge other academic responsibilities expected for (under-) graduate applicants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing technical support and supervision for laboratory supervision, observing sessions, planetarium provision, and problem classes
  • Delivering small-scale outreach events, summer schools, and managing the observatory's social media presence
  • Ensuring the smooth operation of the observatory and its equipment

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you must have excellent communication skills and a commitment to supporting Astronomy teaching to students within our programmes at FdSc, BSc and Master levels, as well as participants of short courses and summer schools.
