Chaplaincy Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Chaplain to join our team at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering and providing highly skilled, pastoral, spiritual or religious support for patients, carers and staff across the organisation, particularly for those identifying with Muslim faith traditions.
The post holder will be authorised and accredited to practice as a world religion or belief leader and provide effective chaplaincy which demonstrates the values and behaviours identified within the Trusts framework and act as a role model for all staff within the managed Hospital sites.
Main Duties and Responsibilities- Provide pastoral, religious and spiritual support to distressed patients, clients, carers, families, and the bereaved.
- Plan and support religious services to meet pastoral needs.
- Lead appropriate acts of worship within the Trust and work with volunteers to take religious rites to patients on the wards.
- Conduct funerals as required - liaising with the Trust's Bereavement Service.
- Support the Chaplaincy Manager deliver pastoral care across the organisation and within their own area of responsibility.
- Work respectfully and sensitively alongside other healthcare professionals.
- Develop links with Trust ward staff and managers.
- Ensure accurate records are kept of all patient and staff contacts.

Person Specification- Ordained or relevant Leader in good standing with own faith/non-faith community.
- Undergraduate degree level in theology, pastoral care or other relevant discipline - or working towards or equivalent experience.
- Accreditation/licensing with appropriate authority to practice as religion/belief/non-faith leader/representative and/or pastoral worker.
- Excellent spoken and written communication, pastoral and interpersonal skills.
- Broad knowledge of NHS Chaplaincy.
- Experience in health care chaplaincy.
- Evidence of team working.
- Demonstrable pastoral, spiritual and religious care experience within and beyond the person's faith and belief group.
- Ability to work effectively with others.
- IT competency in MS office, and ability to learn new IT systems rapidly.
- Valid driving license.
- Able to work on all wards: COVID positive, asymptomatic and negative.
- To participate in on-call rota.
- To be able to work in any Trust hospital as required.
