Job Title: Design Technology Technician

Reeson Education is seeking a highly organized and practical Design Technology graduate or specialist to work as a Design Technology Technician in an outstanding Secondary School in Uxbridge.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support to the Design & Technology Faculty, ensuring the practical needs of teaching staff are met, and maintaining a well-organized and accessible Design Technology resource room.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the technical service to the Design & Technology Faculty is maintained and improved.
  • Work cohesively with a team of Design Technology Technicians to achieve common goals.
  • Ensure all Design Technology equipment is well-maintained and up-to-date.
  • Stocktake resources within Design Technology to ensure minimum stock levels.
  • Organize and maintain the Design Technology resource room, ensuring it is user-friendly and accessible.
  • Attend faculty meetings to brief staff on new equipment or practical ideas.
  • Dispose of waste materials and remain up-to-date with the latest health and safety protocols.
  • Identify equipment needs in consultation with teaching and technician staff and participate in the selection of new items of equipment.
  • Maintain and repair Faculty apparatus and equipment, and arrange for maintenance and repair as needed.
  • Prepare apparatus, materials, and set up equipment and apparatus for use in practical classes.
  • Set up and occasionally carry out demonstrations.
  • Retrieve and clean away apparatus, etc., after use.
  • Construct and modify apparatus as needed.
  • Ensure the practical requirements of practical examinations/assessments are met.
  • Ensure satisfactory standards of safety and security are maintained in accordance with School/Borough policy.
